A couple of weeks ago, a new research and development center was opened in the UK. The firm now has a new facility at its headquarters in St. Austell. The focus is to provide new ways of increasing energy efficiency.</span></p>

<p><span>Enigin, as a company, now engages in the sale, production and distribution of systems that monitor energy consumption as well as efficiency of these systems. This firm has a presence now in over 57 countries across the world and has about 23 employees working at its local offices at St. Austell. The benefit of this new facility is that it will create more employment especially to software engineers, hardware developers and electronics engineers among many others. These professionals keep increasing in number and hence the need for an expanded facility.</span></p>

I was recently contacted by someone that I know who is a senior member of a large manufacturing company and he contacted me. I didn&#8217;t go to him, he contacted me because he knew what we’re about and he says, “We need help.: And so I said, “Well, that’s fine. We’d like to talk to you and your company about building your aspirations.” He said, <strong>“Aspirations: survival.”</strong> And it’s a similar story with many companies we’re talking to today. It’s not a choice; it’s a must to reduce costs, so they turn to companies like us. So, naturally energy maps is the perfect antidote.</p>

How can you compete against this when you yourself have top quality load-side energy saving products such as CUES, Chilled Unit Energy Saver, from Enigin PLC? I took up the question of competition with one of our best Distributors to share his experience.</p>

I started one year ago and in my opinion I didn’t have so much competition in the beginning but now I’m facing not a lot but quite a few competitors from other systems or platforms but more or less it’s always the same. So it’s giving information to the customer to make decisions to try to save energy and <strong><em>Enigin has done a step further</em></strong> in the sense that we’re giving also solutions not only monitoring but also some Real-time solutions. <strong>One of them is very powerful</strong>. It’s the CUES, in my opinion of course because it’s very easy to install. It’s quite cheap and very easy to understand. And that’s what I’m focused in. Another solution that I like very much is the iMEC  In my opinion, it’s CUES and iMEC and also of course Eniscope. The core business is the Eniscope and then the other”</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Determination is the key to success, at Enigin we teach Partners and Distributors that they need stickability to succeed, stickability is another word for determination.</p>
<p>Some may disagree - luck, skill, planning, team work, the list could go on and on and I have to agree they are all vital but they will all fail in the end, unless you have determination.</p>
<p>It is that term &#8220;in the end&#8221; that sums it up really - being a football (soccer) fan and even working within the professional football world for over a decade I can tell you that determination is the foundation of so much success.</p>
<p><span id="more-21"></span>I have seen fantastic skill, what people would call incredible luck and some amazing team work but it is always the determination that wins out in the long run - a related term &#8220;in the long run&#8221;.</p>
<p>Yes skill, luck, team work and all the other attributes may win the match (or in business the sale) but to succeed long term (another related term!) determination is a requirement.</p>
<p>I was privileged to be part of a team set up (albeit behind the scenes) of a football team that won two Championships over three seasons - now the team were good but I would say they weren&#8217;t the most talented or skillful - but they never gave up.</p>
<p>That often won them a match, I recall one game when they were leading two nil with minutes left, they were playing away from home and suddenly backed by a partisan home crowd the host pulled back two goals in a minute. The 90 minutes of game time seemed to be up, with only the stoppage time left when MY team went down the other end and scored a winner to clinch it 3-2.</p>
<p>You may say, &#8220;Well what do you expect?&#8221; If you know sports, particularly football, you&#8217;ll know that after leading comfortably for most of the match only to be pegged back in the final moments that is it, or often there will be only one winner, the team on the up - unless you are determined to at least try and turn it round rather than let it slip.</p>
<p>Through out the Championship seasons so many matches were one by late goals, by determined uninspiring performances, grinding out results. There were the exciting matches and games, the spectacularly skillful play and performances, but generally it was that determination to come out on top at the &#8220;end&#8221; of the season through sheer hard work.</p>
<p>In business it is the same &#8220;in the end&#8221; or &#8220;over the long-term&#8221; etc. it is not what order or sale you win or lose today it is what you have won over the month, over the year and ultimately over time. If you are determined to keep working you will always be on the right side, sometimes down but the general movement will be up, rather that peaks and troughs the graph will show steady, determined upward progress.</p>
<p>So keep working - there is a saying in English football, &#8220;It ain&#8217;t over until the fat lady sings&#8221;, in other words don&#8217;t give up. keep right on till the end.</p>

<p>It was great to speak to a group of people who were so positive about the future of their energy saving businesses with so many places suffering severely from the worldwide financial turn down.</p>
<p><span id="more-44"></span>Apart from the successes they have had with Enigin PLC&#8217;s solutions these Enigin Distributors have kept moving forward by also adapting their energy saving businesses to help their clients to save through efficiency.</p>
<p>They supply their core products of Eniscope and Enigin load side products but also have been intuitive in identifying other areas they can help their clients save money through energy saving.</p>
<p>I heard tales of simple but thoughtful actions that saved thousands through to creative engineering for a Pizza outlet that looks set to lead to a nationwide roll out, or just advising a client to put up a blind to cut out the affects of morning sunshine of refrigerators.</p>
<p>It is just amazing the sorts of individuals involved with Enigin around the world - it certainly restores your faith in humanity.</p>

<p>Yas I know people will say changes in weather patterns are nothing new - but we are suffering more than ever from extremes in weather swings.</p>
<p>In the UK there is nothing extreme, at all, anywhere - not naturally anyway.</p>
<p><span id="more-52"></span>Our mountains are beautiful but do take you heights that mean you struggle to breath, out most dangerous animal in the wild world is a badger and a lot of the country grinds to halt when four inches of snow falls.</p>
<p>Yes over the past few years we are seeing greater extreme of weather and now in November deep snow and freezing temperatures across the country when we normally get a chilly wind and rain. This also isn&#8217;t the first time in recent years - the last two years has seen heavy snowfall, even in Cornwall where Enigin are based and again we have suffered already this winter.</p>
<p>The summers too are become more extreme, whether hotter or wetter, the weather is just far more dramatic and more like you experience in warmer climes. This past summer a rainy day was still warm, unheard of generally in this country.</p>
<p>Yes I believe climate change is happening, hence I am delighted to be working at Enigin who help businesses to become energy efficient, saving money and the environment by reducing greenhouse gases and tackling climate change.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There is plenty advice on the web about what or how to do things - at  Enigin we like to provide advice to help Enigin Partners and Enigin  Distributors to gain success in their energy saving businesses.</p>
<p>Well here in the face of the norm are thesecond of 20 things you shouldn’t do on a sales call:</p>
<p><span id="more-84"></span><strong>Arrive late to the call. </strong>If you don’t arrive on time it tell the customer clearly that you don’t give a damn about them or their time.  Instead: Always arrive 15 minutes ahead of time.  If you drive to calls, get a GPS.<br />
<strong>Appear flippant or sarcastic.</strong> A good-natured laugh at a joke might be taken personally by someone watching out the window, without hearing the context.  Instead: Watch your demeanor at all times.<br />
<strong>Lack requisite product knowledge. </strong>The prospect doesn’t want to hear “I need to get back to you about that”…over and over. Instead: make sure you’re trained on your current products and policies…before the call.<br />
<strong>Fail to plan the call.</strong> Sounds simple, but trying to close when should be qualifying (for example) is a lost sale.  Instead: Never enter a door without first thinking about what you plan to accomplish.<br />
<strong>Be too business-like at first.</strong> Remember you’re building bridges with another human being, not just a notch in your sales gun.  Instead: Smile and be friendly… but don’t get too gushy.<br />
<strong>Show up with a crowd. </strong>If you bring too many people, it will draw customer’s comments about why your costs so high  Instead: Use webconferencing when you need to include additional resources.<br />
<strong>Fail to check your appearance. </strong>Don’t show up with something amiss that a quick stop in the client’s bathroom could head off.  Instead: Make a quick pit stop - with a look-over - before the call.<br />
<strong>Forget the customers’ names.</strong> What could be more embarrassing than actually forgetting whom you’re talking with?  Instead: Write down the names down of everyone in the room with a small table diagram.<br />
<strong>Be rude to the admin. </strong>No flirting, of course, but if you act all arrogant and superior, you’ll just antagonize the help.  Instead: Be friendly and respectful of the staff - admin and otherwise.<br />
<strong>Ask personal questions. </strong>You may think that the customer is your friend, but you can easily screw up if it gets too personal.  Instead: Keep the conversation focused on business issues, especially the customer’s needs.</p>
