<p>AT Enigin we are concerned with energy saving - not surprising as we are an energy saving company!</p>
<p>We also spread the WORD by appointing Partners and Distributors worldwide, but most of them and we here at Enigin are about to expend and ultimately waste energy in large quantities over the next few weeks - why?</p>
<p>The world&#8217;s premier sporting occasion the FIFA World Cup, hosted in South Africa is about to kick-off, on Friday 11th to be precise with the match between the hosts, South Africa and Mexico.</p>
<p><span id="more-36"></span>This first match will see lots of energy expended by Enigin Distributors in both countries as they shout and scream in support and exasperation of their national teams, not energy spared just spent.</p>
<p>Hence the pattern will continue throughout the tournament - Enigin Distributors united in entrepreneurial challenges suddenly find themselves on opposite sides as their respective countries battle it out on the football field.</p>
<p>Saturday will see the Enigin crew at HQ burning up energy in support of England while the many Distributors across the United States will be supporting The Yanks as they try to better their previous World Cup performance, which should not be to difficult.</p>
<p>As I go through the fixture list I soon realise that every nation, well almost all as North Korea, for instance,  has been a hard country for Enigin to establish a Distributor, will be supported by Enigin Distributors somewhere on the globe.</p>
<p>The tournament will see a lively, energetic Enigin network throughout the four weeks of the competition - but I reckon they will be working hard between the matches to make sure businesses and organisations in their territories still progress to saving energy and money.</p>

THIS week new Enigin Distributors have been at the Enigin HQ enjoying their commercial training course and yesterday (Wednesday, May 26) I had a brief chat with them.</p>
<p>Obviously a concern for these entrepreneurs from all over the world is suddenly leaving the Enigin nest, as it were, and as fledglings in the energy saving business and a long way away, all alone, how will they manage.</p>
<p><span id="more-33"></span>They were all delighted when they found out about Enigin&#8217;s Knowledge base, an internet resource that enables them to log into the technical and business knowledge they need to run a successful energy saving business, with the answers that will help their clients as well, as they will have a resource to obtain the answer needed, even while on site.</p>
<p>Here at Enigin we are always advancing our energy saving solutions, the development never stops, hence the Knowledge Base was instituted as an online resource so our Distributors have access to the latest information and updates as well as a communication hub to feed bask experience and gain experience.</p>
<p>So as the new Enigin Distributors fly home to their territories they have the resources readily available to help the businesses and organisations in their territories to get the best out of Enigin&#8217;s energy saving solutions.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span id="more-28"></span><span style="Arial;">&#8221; As a rookie brand new distributor with my first hard core week of sales effort behind me the following points are now blatantly clear to me: First and foremost, you might think you know it all, but you certainly don’t. You may be a hot shot entrepreneur in your given field, you may be a start up or anything else in between, but the single most powerful thing I can share is that Enigin have tools, resources and training par excellence&#8230;the rest is up to you.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">What Enigin teaches during training is ALL true. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">They have forgotten things about energy saving that we have yet to learn and, collectively, they have more experience than it would take one to accumulate in a lifetime.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">Ian makes the point of taking off your &#8220;earmuffs&#8221; of &#8220;filters&#8221; during training. JUST DO IT. When you operate from a base of ignorance, prejudice and other forms of pre-conceived notion have no place&#8230;and no matter what your current knowledge base may be, you more than likely are ignorant of the task that lays ahead, however, if you remove your &#8220;filters&#8221; you will end up well equipped. I, for one and without really realising it, suffered in this area (despite being gently cautioned) and it has been a very sudden and real wake up call to me that there was no place for prejudice.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">RTFM!!! (Read The Freakin&#8217; Manual). It never ceases to amaze me how few will take this most vital yet basic step in most situations in life, never mind in the critical learning phase that entry into this market requires.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">In my case, it was Tim Mc Mahon doing the telling, but when you are told to focus on SME markets to start out with&#8230;LISTEN. Today I walked into an industrial giant by any world standard with what I considered a &#8220;warm&#8221; market with long standing and pre-existing solid relationships only to find I was &#8220;handed over&#8221; with my &#8220;5 minutes of experience&#8221; to be pitted against 3 electrical and 1 electro-mechanical engineers who had questions on subjects that I had no idea existed. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">To say that I was outgunned would be an understatement, and ONLY my pre-existing relationships with non-technical, management type people saved me from utter failure. On the upside Knowledge Base provided me with most of the answers within hours of my &#8220;defeat&#8221;, however, had I put my pre-conceived notions aside and applied what I learned in training I would never have found myself in this potentially embarrassing situation. I, fortunately, will live to fight another day with this giant, but without pre-existing and high level relationships, I WOULD HAVE BLOWN IT. (Sidenote: Tim, from now on, I am all ears!)</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">Knowledge Base: There are not enough ways to extol her virtues. She is your very best friend and you should spend hours and hours doting upon her. Mindshare training is awesome, but Knowledge Base will fill out the solid training skeleton and add meat to the bones at body builder proportions&#8230;and best of all, she is at your beck and call 24/7. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">Knowledge Base: I was somewhat hesitant at the prospect of using the &#8220;unique question&#8221; function in Knowledge Base as opposed to the (customary) pick up the phone and ask a question approach, but my fears were put to rest in 10 seconds flat (metaphorically). In my short existence I have had the need to post a few questions already and the answers have always been prompt, knowledgeable and are stored forever in a database that I can access 24/7. I have found that some of my answers have even come with graphics, pictures, analogies or technical specs that have painted a picture in my mind that no telephone conversation ever could have.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">Application: Enigin are going to provide training in a unique, experienced and intelligent way. It is up to you to make the most of it all, educate yourself (post Mindshare) through Knowledge Base, and then APPLY the knowledge and take practical steps. Mindshare is great, Knowledge Base is a masterpiece, but application is up to you. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">Forget what you think you know and USE the knowledge Enigin provides. I figured I would take a bit of what Enigin knows and couple it with all that I know and I will be unstoppable&#8230;wrong!!! In this last week, I have applied my knowledge from a highly successful sales and business ownership career and drew blanks. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">The twice, this week, that I applied what I was taught (putting my personal knowledge, feelings etc aside), I closed two sales. The TWELVE other appointments that I didn’t and went with my way, attracted a whole lot of technical product based questions that ended in the dreaded &#8221; I will need to investigate this further&#8221; response&#8230;and Enigin gives us BRILLIANT tools to cope with this response, but if your &#8220;foundation&#8221; is weak, there is little or nothing convincing that you can say. 2/14 I applied what I had learned, and 2/14 I struck gold&#8230;coincidence? I think not.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">Bottom line&#8230; listen without prejudice, use the tools at your disposal and APPLY.&#8221;</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">In Summary:</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">I figured this, or something like it, might be an &#8220;impartial&#8221; insight for new delegates planning to attend the first day&#8217;s training&#8230; something to read and ponder in advance… it may well engender a spirit of &#8220;listen very VERY carefully and “take action on&#8221; what you learn”.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="Arial;">BenW, BenF and Tim… what can I say? Each of you has gone out of your way for me in an &#8220;above the call of duty&#8221; manner, both professionally and personally, and each of you set a solid example in his own way. With the likes of yourselves &#8220;at the helm&#8221;, Enigin can only prosper. Thank you… it is and will always be well remembered.</span></p>

<p>I always ask how did people do it before mobile phones, internet, e-mails etc etc! Especially business. Here at Enigin we keep up to date and with the times with all types of technology. The use of the newest items is important to keep up to date and keep that communication between staff, employers and customers as open as possible.</p>
<p>We need this new technology today and it really poses the question, where would be now without it?</p>

<p>Communication is the key to progress - why do I believe that?</p>
<p>Just look at the last 150 years or so - mankind has made so much technological progress it is mind numbing and the pace of advance and change has accelerated throughout that time because communication has become easier and more and more encompassing.</p>
<p><span id="more-23"></span>Not that there wasn&#8217;t communication previously - it has emerged as interesting fact in the last few years that scientific historians have discovered that many projects carried out by the same people saw constant communication between them, particularly across Europe and North America, it was just slow compared to what we are used to,</p>
<p>As communication has become easier and quicker so has the rate of progress, if you call it progress. The pooling of theories and ideas is so much easier, with collaboration across the world now a matter of everyday action.</p>
<p>As suggested not all this progress is welcome - with the pace of change we see errors due to the speed in which we implement new technology. I reckon much of the problems we suffer from climate change are due to not enough patience and though being applied with technologies that were regarded as safe just a few years ago - a little more research no doubt would have revealed the harmful side effects.</p>
<p>By the same token technology can be used to save the situation - at Enigin we use innovative hardware and software solutions to help manage energy in way that many people would not have thought possible or even necessary just a few years ago.</p>
<p>So I welcome technology and I like change, I also work with technology and in communications - I have the bets of all worlds!</p>

<p>Determination is the key to success, at Enigin we teach Partners and Distributors that they need stickability to succeed, stickability is another word for determination.</p>
<p>Some may disagree - luck, skill, planning, team work, the list could go on and on and I have to agree they are all vital but they will all fail in the end, unless you have determination.</p>
<p>It is that term &#8220;in the end&#8221; that sums it up really - being a football (soccer) fan and even working within the professional football world for over a decade I can tell you that determination is the foundation of so much success.</p>
<p><span id="more-21"></span>I have seen fantastic skill, what people would call incredible luck and some amazing team work but it is always the determination that wins out in the long run - a related term &#8220;in the long run&#8221;.</p>
<p>Yes skill, luck, team work and all the other attributes may win the match (or in business the sale) but to succeed long term (another related term!) determination is a requirement.</p>
<p>I was privileged to be part of a team set up (albeit behind the scenes) of a football team that won two Championships over three seasons - now the team were good but I would say they weren&#8217;t the most talented or skillful - but they never gave up.</p>
<p>That often won them a match, I recall one game when they were leading two nil with minutes left, they were playing away from home and suddenly backed by a partisan home crowd the host pulled back two goals in a minute. The 90 minutes of game time seemed to be up, with only the stoppage time left when MY team went down the other end and scored a winner to clinch it 3-2.</p>
<p>You may say, &#8220;Well what do you expect?&#8221; If you know sports, particularly football, you&#8217;ll know that after leading comfortably for most of the match only to be pegged back in the final moments that is it, or often there will be only one winner, the team on the up - unless you are determined to at least try and turn it round rather than let it slip.</p>
<p>Through out the Championship seasons so many matches were one by late goals, by determined uninspiring performances, grinding out results. There were the exciting matches and games, the spectacularly skillful play and performances, but generally it was that determination to come out on top at the &#8220;end&#8221; of the season through sheer hard work.</p>
<p>In business it is the same &#8220;in the end&#8221; or &#8220;over the long-term&#8221; etc. it is not what order or sale you win or lose today it is what you have won over the month, over the year and ultimately over time. If you are determined to keep working you will always be on the right side, sometimes down but the general movement will be up, rather that peaks and troughs the graph will show steady, determined upward progress.</p>
<p>So keep working - there is a saying in English football, &#8220;It ain&#8217;t over until the fat lady sings&#8221;, in other words don&#8217;t give up. keep right on till the end.</p>
