Enigin show us the light!

posted by enigin in General

No business I know of can boast about being able to function without lighting. It simply cannot be done, no matter what business you are in, you need lighting and therefore you need to consume energy.

As the leading company in the energy efficiency industry - Enigin PLC - is acknowledged as a specialist in this field, and develops energy saving products to cater for those needs.

The light bulbs we are most familiar with, called incandescent light bulbs,  waste 90% of the energy that they source to function - only 10% is used for actual lighting purpose and the rest simply goes to waste in the form of generated heat!

This creates a chain reaction: your air conditioning system will work harder to cool down the temperature increased by inefficient lighting!

Lighting has a huge impact on the environment. I was startled to learn that it is single-handedly responsible for 19% of the world’s electricity generation; equates to 70% of the CO2 emissions produced by passenger vehicles and produces 3 times more emissions than aviation; and accounts for at least 40% of the energy bill for commercial buildings.

Enigin understand the problem: energy wastage is not a visible phenomenon and peoples’ daily work and worries have a way of eclipsing details which would allow to save it! For example remembering to switch lights off when walking out of a room, or when natural sunlight is present.

So what if there was a solution to this: a device that would do the thinking for you! Enigin created LESS - Light Energy Saver System - which is able to reduce CO2 emissions and allow business owners to save copious amounts of money on energy bills. Most of all, the level of comfort is enhanced by this system, designed to adapt the variations in natural light throughout the day.

For example, when you walk into your office very early in the morning, and the sun has not yet fully risen, your lights will switch on full brightness, gradually decreasing in intensity as natural sunlight becomes more present while still maintaining an ideal working light level.

This system allows the lights to adjust to the amount of sunlight received in your office, for example, when clouds shield some of its shine - they will adapt their brightness accordingly. I found this very clever and logical.

The best part is that you don’t need to think about it or do anything! It all happens automatically, unnoticed, and will be saving you 35% of your lighting-related energy costs! Enigin PLC’s system strikes me as being perfect  because it fulfills all its missions without soliciting the intervention of the user.

Enigin PLC’s solution is therefore clearly essential to all businesses to save money and reduce excess energy consumption. In this case, LESS… is more!

A typical Week At Enigin

posted by admin in Uncategorized

Welcome to the first instalment of my blog. I’d like to share with you what a typical working week may involve for me. This week I already have appointments scheduled with potential Enigin Distributors who are from: The USA, Nigeria, Lithuania, India, Portugal, Australia, Macedonia and Indonesia. As well as these scheduled appointments, new enquiries continue to relentlessly flood in.

It’s a real highlight of my job, that despite living in the furthest South County in England, I can spend my day talking to people from all round the world. It just go’s to show how well Enigin have embraced the technology available today.

During our last Open Day, I sat around a lunch table with potential distributors from South Africa, Kenya and Mexico. How many people can say that about a Monday lunchtime down in Cornwall???

Working at Enigin PLC is such an incredibly fast paced business, with constant new challenges to motivate me. I look forward to coming to work everyday, and I guarantee there aren’t many of you out there who can say that and mean it. My time just seems to disappear and I have to keep a very organised and well run diary to ensure I give all the important tasks the required attention.

Last week I attended an Enigin Direct appointment with Mark Sinden, our Head of Research and Development. We attended a local primary school to discuss the benefits of our Eniscope. The head teacher was amazed at the potential for not only reducing his annual energy bills, but also how the technology could be used to educate the children. I’m sure you’ll agree, educating future generations on energy savings will be one of the biggest factors in influencing climate change.

Please keep checking for more regular updates to my blog. Unfortunately I’ve run out of time today as I have 2 meetings to attend before I have to go and beat my friend at squash (Although he may well tell a different story……..)

Goodbye and Good Luck. I look forward to sharing more of my Energy Saving Experiences with you.
